With FIFA’s release of the 3 finalist of the Men’s Footballer of the Year Award, we take an in-depth look at one of the nominees, the 33 year old Cristiano Ronaldo, his move from the Spanish Capital to Turin, Italy and on both former and current club’s Social Media fortunes.

Following his move to Juventus, the club gained over 6 million new followers within a month, while Real Madrid lost about 1 million followers on Twitter within the first 24 hours of the announcement of his departure from the club.

Though Real Madrid has about 200 million followers still across all Social Media platforms compared to Juventus with over 56.5 million across all platforms, it is clear he has had an impact on their follower-ship.

Cristiano Ronaldo has 140 million followers on Instagram, 120 million followers on Facebook and 74.3 million followers on Twitter. This showcases his marketing star power as a footballer.

While he is yet to find the net at his new club on the pitch, he is performing off the pitch.
